Summer Party!: 27th July 2012

Marathon Summer Party kicks off Today!

It's party all the way through August for Two Rivers Housing residents living in the Wye and Severn area.

Today, Friday 27 July, the community in Drybrook will kick off the first of a summer long celebration of community events, which include a strong Olympic theme – with games and fun for all the family.

The family events will include a barbecue, drinks and bouncy castles, and an opportunity to talk to the Two Rivers team.

A host of other agencies are backing the events with sports experts helping out from the Forest of Dean District Council.

Events will start in Drybrook and finish up in Wednesday 29th August at Mitcheldean Community Hall.

Other villages getting ready to party this summer include: Yorkley, Bream, Sedbury, Ruarden, Soudley, Newnham, Broadwell, Lydney, Joys Green, Blakeney, Berry Hill, newent, Woolaston, Coleford and Gloucester.

Community volunteer and Vice-Chair Jean Birkett said the organisation was about building communities.

"Good quality affordable homes are just the starting point for a great community. We are here to build community spirit. Let the games begin!"

The not for profit organisation rents out low cost homes and build new affordable accommodation to meet the growing needs of the local community – helping to plug the gap between wages and house prices.
