Consumer Standards – what do they cover?
In April 2024, the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) bought in four new Consumer Standards. Designed to strengthen the connection between tenants and their landlords, the new standards set out what the Regulator expects from social landlords.
The four Consumer Standards are:
- The Safety and Quality Standard – the action we take to improve our homes and keep tenants safe.
- The Transparency, Influence and Accountability Standard – how we engage with tenants and customers so that they can help shape our services and understand how we are performing.
- The Neighbourhood and Community Standard – how we manage shared spaces and work with partners to tackle anti-social behaviour, hate crime and domestic abuse.
- The Tenancy Standard – how our homes are allocated and let, how we help tenants manage their tenancy and the type of tenancies we offer.
Alongside the new Consumer Standards, there are others that set out how we run the organisation. You can read all of the regulatory standards here: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/regulatory-standards-for-landlords
