Working in Tandem to create great homes

The showhome opens at a development in Newent this weekend, signalling the first project for Tandem Living and a new phase in the evolution of the Two Rivers Housing group.

The housing charity has been building its own new properties for more than 10 years, and now its experienced development team is building homes for private sale and rent under the new Tandem Living banner.

All profit from these sales will help Two Rivers to build more homes that people on low incomes can afford to rent.

Tandem Living is the latest exciting new venture for the housing charity, which has been finding creative ways to attract fresh income in the face of government cuts so that it can continue its work “˜creating great homes and supporting communities’.

In 2014 it launched Centigen Facilities Management and 18 months later TwoCan estate agency joined the local property market. These subsidiaries also gift all profit to Two Rivers Housing so that it can continue its work.

TwoCan is marketing the Cleeve Chase development in Cleeve Mill Lane, Newent and staffing the sales office and marketing suite.

“This is a very positive step forward for our organisation,” explained Garry King, Chief Executive of Two Rivers Housing (pictured with Head of Development, Kirsty Powell). “There is a shortage of all types of homes in this county – to buy and to let – and we are using our considerable skills and expertise to help address it.

“The money raised from selling our Tandem Living homes will go straight into building more properties for those who cannot afford to buy or rent privately, thereby supporting people at all stages of their lives.”

The stylish two-bedroom bungalows at Cleeve Chase in Newent sit in a cul-de-sac of 17, all designed for people aged 50 and over. They are fitted to a high standard and benefit from a 10-year guarantee. The first homes will be ready to move into later this year.

The showhome will be open on Saturdays, Sundays and Thursdays between 10am and 5pm.

Tandem Living is already planning its second development at Alfrick in Worcestershire – 21 three, four and five-bedroom homes on a brownfield site at the edge of the village. These are due to complete in early 2019.
