More affordable homes for the Forest of Dean
Newent-based Two Rivers Housing has completed the handover of 12 new affordable homes at Birch Grove in Tutshill, Gloucestershire.
The Birch Grove site, which is just off the A48, is part of a new development of 45 homes for the area. In total, the housing association took 18 properties on the site including six Shared Ownership homes last year.
The handover of the last 12 properties includes six one-bedroom flats, five two-bedroom and one three-bedroom house, which will be let as affordable rented homes to people with a connection to Gloucestershire. Each of the properties has its own garden and a charge point for electric vehicles.
The site was developed in partnership with family owned and run, Butlerwall Homes who are based in Pontypool, South Wales and it was the first time the two organisations had worked together.
Sara Walton, Development Manager at Two Rivers who completed the handover said: “When choosing a development partner, we are looking for a team that is as committed to delivering quality homes as Two Rivers. I am really pleased with the quality of the homes that Butlerwall have produced and look forward to working with them in the future.”
Tom Parry, Project Manager at Butlerwall, added: “From start to finish it’s been a real pleasure working with Two Rivers – as a family run and owned developer we invest a lot in the homes we build and are committed to finishing our homes to the highest standard and specification. We hope to be working with the Two Rivers team again soon.”
Two Rivers Housing currently manages more than 4,000 homes across Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties, many of which are in the Forest of Dean. In 2018, the housing association pledged to build 1,000 new affordable homes in the area by 2028. Since lockdown restrictions have eased, it has made 75 new homes available across the county.
