Radon testing in our homes
Radon is a natural gas that comes from the ground. It’s usually found at very low levels and doesn’t cause a problem. In some areas, levels can be higher, so we monitor this and carry out testing as a precaution to help keep homes safe.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be carrying out a routine programme to measure radon levels in a small number of our homes.
There’s no need to worry. This is a simple check and part of our ongoing commitment to your safety.
If your home is selected, you’ll receive a letter explaining what you need to do and where to find more information. We’re working with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), who will send you a test kit in the post. The kit is easy to use and includes clear instructions.
We’re testing a sample of homes, so your neighbours may not receive a kit. This doesn’t mean your home is at higher risk just that it has been chosen as part of the programme.
