New homes created with local people in Eastington

Newly built homes and a grass area with a street sighn that says Homeground

We’ve completed 31 new affordable homes for local families in Eastington. Over the past couple of years, we’ve worked with Eastington Community Land Trust (ECLT) to create new flats, bungalows and two- and three-bedroom homes in the rural village near Stroud.

Last month we joined the ECLT and other partners that worked on the development including GP Thomas, Homes England and Stroud District Council, for a site visit to celebrate the completion of the new homes. We were also really pleased to welcome the MP for Stroud, Dr Simon Opher, to see the site.

The ECLT was set up by Eastington residents in 2016. Their aim was to create homes for local families so that new generations could stay in the village. It was also important to them to keep the character and green spaces in and around the village. With our support, in 2024 the ECLT secured planning permission from Stroud District Council for 31 affordable homes at their Homeground site. Since then, we’ve worked with developer GP Thomas to build the homes in a way that fits into the style of the village.

The new homes are fitted with solar panels and heat pumps and have an energy efficiency rating of EPC A – the highest rating possible. This means that they’ll be warmer and cheaper to run for the families that move in.

This summer, 21 of the homes were made available to rent through Homeseeker Plus. We also made 10 homes available to part buy, part rent through the government’s Shared Ownership scheme.
