Home condition surveys
Help us invest in your home.
Everyone deserves a warm, safe and affordable home.
That’s why we regularly check our homes and invest in keeping them in good condition. To help us plan this work properly, we carry out a home condition survey every four to five years.
During the visit, we’ll assess the condition of the main parts of your home, including your kitchen, bathroom, windows, roof and heating system.
- Good – in good condition; we’ll review it at your next survey
- Satisfactory – in reasonable condition but likely to need replacing in 2 – 4 years
- Poor – works safely but will need replacing within 18 months
These ratings help us plan ahead and make sure we’re investing in the right homes at the right time.
After the visit, the surveyor will leave you a card showing the ratings, so you have a record of what was checked.
You can find more information about how we rate the components in your home in our Home Condition Survey leaflet.
Letting you know we’re coming
We’ll write to you around four weeks before we visit.
Your letter will include:
- Information about the survey and what we’ll be checking
- Photos of our surveyors, so you know who to expect
- A leaflet explaining how we assess your home
If the date doesn’t work for you, or you need a more specific time, just let us know and we’ll arrange this with you.
What to expect from your home condition inspection
Our surveyor will:
- Check key items in your home: including windows, doors, your kitchen bathroom and the heating system.
- Record and rate the condition of these items.
- Look for any safety concerns: including signs of damp and mould.
The information the surveyor collects during their visit will help us:
- plan improvements and upgrades to your home, so it stays modern, comfortable and well maintained.
- pick up any urgent repairs.
What happens after the survey?
At the end of the visit, the surveyor will give you a card confirming what they’ve inspected and the ratings they’ve given. This also shows roughly when items may need replacing.
If any work is needed, we’ll contact you to arrange it.
